The event was also attended by\u00a0various representatives of the public administrations of several autonomous\u00a0communities, as well as the media and the group\u2019s members, who attended this\u00a0benchmark event in the industry sector in Spain.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Finance and Public Administration said: \u201cWe have the technological\u00a0know-how, the industrial capacity, the business leadership and the support of the public\u00a0administrations for a shared objective, which is to contribute together to an increasingly\u00a0sustainable, cleaner and less polluting economy, where electric mobility will play a\u00a0decisive role\u201d. He also stressed that \u201cthis project is a dream come true that demonstrates\u00a0the strength, resilience and capacity for reinvention of the Spanish automotive sector\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, the President of SEAT S.A. said during his speech that \u201c2023 is an important\u00a0year for the electrification of Spain. We are at a key moment and as an industry we have\u00a0the responsibility to be a transforming lever for the country. And this is what the Future:\u00a0Fast Forward project we are presenting today is all about\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The group is going to develop 86 projects in 9 autonomous communities with 52 of its\u00a0partners, for which an investment of 10 billion euros has been mobilised. Of this total, 7\u00a0billion euros come from the Volkswagen Group, SEAT S.A. and PowerHoldco and 3\u00a0billion euros from the rest of the partners. Of this sum, 357 million has been provided by\u00a0the Spanish Government through the Next Generation Resilience and Transformation\u00a0Funds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom Future: Fast Forward we are going to act throughout the entire automotive value\u00a0chain. We are going to generate an innovative change in today\u2019s industry with a positive\u00a0social, economic and environmental impact in the future\u201d, said the president of the\u00a0Future: Fast Forward group, Marc Riera, at the closing of the institutional event. Riera\u00a0also commented on the purpose of \u201claying the foundations of a distinctive business\u00a0collaboration model, capable of adding value, of contributing knowledge, talent and\u00a0experience, in order to go further\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Partners discuss the impact of the project\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Through four panels, business leaders from the large companies and SMEs that are part\u00a0of the grouping have unpacked the details of the impact and scope of this historic\u00a0opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>The panel entitled \u201cA country project\u201d included Francisco J. Riberas, Executive Chairman\u00a0of Gestamp; Alfonso Sancha, Executive Vice-President of Purchasing at SEAT S.A.;\u00a0Marc Riera, Chairman of Future: Fast Forward and Alfonso Ses\u00e9, Chairman of Ses\u00e9.\u00a0The speakers explained the potential of Future: Fast Forward as a transformative project\u00a0not only for the automotive sector, but also for the Spanish economy, as well as the\u00a0reasons why they have embarked on this revolution in the industry to position Spain as\u00a0the international hub for electric vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>This was followed by the panel \u201cThe path towards the sustainable electrification of\u00a0Spain\u201d, in which Javier Rivera, CFO of PowerCo Spain; Juan Jos\u00e9 Marcos, CEO of\u00a0Ingedetec; Raquel Blanco, Global Director of Smart Mobility at Iberdrola and Joaqu\u00edn\u00a0Abril-Martorell, CEO of Phi4Tech Group, reflected on the aim of achieving sustainable\u00a0mobility, highlighting the importance of having the first battery factory, as well as the raw\u00a0material we have in the country to be able to promote Spain as a benchmark for electric\u00a0vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>The third panel was dedicated to SMEs and included Jon As\u00edn, manager and co-founder\u00a0of BeePlanet Factory; Enrique Vacas, CEO &amp; Business Development director of Nutai;\u00a0Carlos Pablo Rodr\u00edguez y Juan, vice-president of Isend and Mike Hastewell, president\u00a0of Malena Engineering. They all talked about what it means to them to be part of a project\u00a0of this magnitude and the importance they have in it, as SMEs represent 59.6% of\u00a0companies developing projects.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the panel \u201cNew opportunities in employment and training\u201d included Jos\u00e9 Garc\u00eda\u00a0G\u00e1mez, General Director of \u00d3rbita Ingenier\u00eda; Josep Codina Nogues, CEO of\u00a0FORMINSA and Mikel Ormazabal, Production Manager of Volkswagen Navarra. They\u00a0all agreed on the new paradigm that Future: Fast Forward represents for the quality and\u00a0specialisation of employment in Spain.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The legacy of Future: Fast Forward<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Future: Fast Forward project will not only change mobility as we know it today, but\u00a0will have a positive impact on many factors such as GDP, maintaining and creating jobs\u00a0with new qualified profiles, boosting SMEs and also impacting sustainability by reducing\u00a0the carbon footprint. It also aims to lay the foundations for new models of business\u00a0collaboration, multiple, transversal and providing value to a common goal to go further,\u00a0leaving a more competitive country in the face of future challenges.<\/p>\n<p>The president of the group, Marc Riera, finally pointed out that \u201cFuture: Fast Forward is\u00a0the result of more than 50 companies capable of making the future of the automotive\u00a0industry a reality. But we must be more ambitious and work to strengthen this project\u00a0and those who can follow it; it is the only way to achieve a transformation that is already\u00a0unstoppable\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The capillarity of a country project<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After the end of the panels, an interactive area was set up in which spokespersons from\u00a0the 52 partners with 86 projects were able to explain to the attendees what these actions,\u00a0which will transform the automotive sector in Spain, consist of. This area was divided\u00a0into different workshops related to the nine areas of action of the PERTE VEC: the\u00a0compulsory blocks, (i) original equipment manufacturing and assembly, (ii) battery\u00a0manufacturing and (iii) manufacturing of other components. The cross-cutting blocks,\u00a0which include (iv) training; (v) digitisation and (vi) circular economy.
